The Quadruple Sunshine Blogger Tag Q + A

And, I know what you're thinking! What is up with the "quadruple"?! Ah. Allow me to enlighten you. It means that I will be answering questions from FOUR SUNSHINE BLOGGER TAGS!!! Yay!! Because I'm slightly obsessed with the Sunshine Blogger tag. I'm going to be taking questions from Ivie, Anna, and Josiah, who just had the questions free for taking - so I did! And then there's those from Liv, who actually tagged me back. Fun, right? Let's get down to business (*sings* "to defeat the Huns" ... uh, I mean, to conquer this list of impossible Q & A).

First for the questions of The Three. I won't be answering all of them, because some of them I've actually done before :D As the rules require: THANK YOU ANNA! THANKS IVIE! THANK YOU JOSIAH!

WHAT GENRE DO YOU PREFER TO READ OR WRITE?

To read: I like them all as long as they are captivating. Mostly speculative, though.

To write: The kind of fantasy that takes place in our world with things happening that never really could. Sometimes a mash of sci-fi too. Kind of like Maggie Stiefvater.

IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY MYTHICAL CREATURE, WHAT CREATURE WOULD IT BE?

Umm... here's a secret. I actually do have a mythical creature. Technically, it's invisible to the ordinary human eye, but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. My animal is a dragon - to be precise, it's a Thornridge dragon given to me by my sis. He's name is Draco. Description of him: these dragons are the silent and but strong type. They're more comfortable in the background, but are always ready to swoop in when someone they care about needs help.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BLOGGING?

About three months :D I started in early June.  I know, I'm still a baby blogger!

DO YOU LIKE SLUSHIES? IF SO, WHAT FLAVOR?

Hahaha. I've never had a "slushie". At least, not anything that I know was called a slushie. I've had smoothies, and a shake, and a slurpy, but never a slushie. *waits for Ivie's outburst*

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?

Blue, white, and black. It's also my favorite color combo. You might have already figured from my blog's color scheme. *points around*

PEN OR PENCIL?

For writing, a pen.
For drawing, a pencil.
Cause I am both a writer and artist, you know.
But overall, a pen. Because it needs no sharpening :D

IF YOU COULD BE FRIENDS WITH ONE BOOK/MOVIE CHARACTER, WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE?

I'd have a different answer every time, but today it would be Lazlo from Strange the Dreamer. Because I think we'd do well together. First, he's been a loner most of his life; second, he's a bookworm; third, he dreams impossible dreams; fourth, despite being a bookworm he doesn't shrink from real adventure; fifth, he's got a kind of mild, lowly personality; sixth, he's a writer; seventh, he's a great storyteller.

HOW TALL ARE YOU AND HOW DOES IT AFFECT YOUR LIFE?

Last time I checked I was about 5'2" plus some fraction of an inch (I'm not sure what - whether it was half or something close to that?). It doesn't affect me much but...

1. I've always been a bit small compared to others my age, and
2. I blend in well with younger kids and don't stand a head taller than anyone else,
3. I relate well to the small heroines in books because there are quite a few of them, and
4. I'm probably going to be the shortest in my family - it's not confirmed yet, but we all predict it.

IF YOU COULD HAVE ONE THING IN THE WHOLE WORLD WHAT WOULD IT BE?

A real physical thing? Those certain shoes I saw in the store. *sobs* I have a rule about not getting stuff when it's not necessary. But they were adorable... *calms down* considering, I might actually pick to get the book, Unsanctioned Eyes. Or to meet Ted Dekker. Or to go to Realm Makers!

WOULD YOU RATHER PUBLISH YOUR NOVEL, OR NOT PUBLISH IT AT ALL AND HAVE IT TURNED INTO A MOVIE?

As long as the movie was made well, I'd rather have it never published but turned into a movie :D Because, I could always write and publish all my other books!

IF YOU COULD RISK YOU MONEY AND TIME WITH NO BAD EFFECT, WHAT WOULD YOU DO OR STUDY (SOMETHING YOU KNOW YOU COULD NEVER DO OTHERWISE OR ARE TOO SCARED TO TRY)?

One, I'd try to become a world class tennis player.

Two, I'd try to become a page in the parliment.

HOW DID YOU START BLOGGING?

Uh, I signed up on blogger and spent blood sweat and tears on the design and then started typing up posts?

I can do a whole post answering this properly if you want xD

YOU ARE STRANDED ON AN ISLAND, AND IT'S GUARANTEED YOU WON'T BE RESCUED FOR A WHOLE YEAR. YOU HAVE ONLY ONE BOOK AND ONE CD (ALONG WITH MEANS TO LISTEN TO IT). WHICH BOOK AND CD WOULD YOU HAVE, AND WHY?

I'd bring The Complete Works of William Shakespeare because I don't think I'll ever finish reading the whole thing otherwise (I'm a Shakespeare fan, okay?)

As for the CD... I really don't know, because I personally don't listen to that much from CDs? I think I'd bring one onto which I've burned all my favorite music - a mix of all kinds :D

IF YOU HAD TO PERFORM IN A PLAY, WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE?

Some Shakespeare play, duh. Maybe ... Much Ado About Nothing, or As You Like It. (Note: I think Shakespeare was a master of titles?)

WHICH BOOK HAVE YOU READ RECENTLY THAT RESONATED WITH YOU LONG AFTER YOU FINISHED READING?

Whoo. Hard one. I'd say either The Blood Race or Where Dandelions Grow, because I've had similar story ideas, and in that respect these were really relatable. Chasing Jupiter, though, continues to bring sunshine to my memories.

WOULD YOU VOLUNTEER TO JOIN A SPACE MISSION IN WHICH YOU WOULD ATTEMPT TO CREATE A MARS COLONY? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Say it happened right now. In 2017. No. I would not. I don't think we need to go that far yet. And this world has enough problems on its own and I think I should stay here and try to change things for the better first.

But. If it were in sci-fi times, or in the future when it's necesarry, then yes, yes I would. Because I'm all one for adventure!

YOU GET A PACKAGE IN THE MAIL WITH ENOUGH MONEY TO TRAVEL ANYWHERE AND VACATION FOR A MONTH. WHERE WOULD YOU GO?

Singapore.

YOU'RE ABOUT TO GET A SONG STUCK IN YOUR HEAD FOR THE WHOLE WEEK. WHICH SONG IS IT, AND WHY?

Right now, I would say "Fix My Eyes" by For King and Country. Because I want that refrain to play in my mind and I want to do it. For one week I want to be reminded nonstop to do these things. "love like I'm not scared; Give when it's not fair; Live life for another; Take time for a brother; Fight for the weak ones; Speak out for freedom; Find faith in the battle; Stand tall but above it all; Fix my eyes on you..."

And now, Liv! Thanks girl! <31900, 1910, 1920, 1930, 1940, 1950, 1960, 1970, 1980 -- WHICH OF THESE DECADES WOULD YOU RATHER LIVE DURING?

*cocks head* 1920. Don't ask why.

WOULD YOU RATHER LIVE IN A CASTLE, A CABIN, OR A REMODELED VICTORIAN HOUSE?

Hmm ... I'm debating between a castle and a cabin. Because a cabin would be IN THE MOUNTAINS and it would be super cozy, but a castle would allow me to MAKE A SUPER ENORMOUS LIBRARY.

YOU HAVE A NIGHT FURY, DESCENDANT OF TOOTHLESS. WHAT'S HIS NAME?

Bud. xD

IF YOU COULD BE TRANSPORTED TO ANY FANTASY BOOK'S WORLD, WHICH BOOK AND WHICH WORLD WOULD IT BE?

Erm ... if fate transported me away, it would probably be to [Ted Dekker's] Other Earth, because I've gone there in my dreams, and my unconscious has decided that if I should be killed in any way it would be by drowning just so that I can find out if he described it rightly. (The only downside to going to Other Earth would be that. I. would. have. to. drown. No questions about that. CAN I BE BRAVE ENOUGH TO STAND IT???) But in all reality - I guess I'd pick Narnia? But if I'm already too old, then Middle Earth, obviously xD

IF YOU WERE A MAGICAL CREATURE, WHAT SORT OF MAGICAL CREATURE WOULD YOU BE?

Excuse me. The answer to this should be clear. I am a dragon. See? *points to "about"* I'm a dragon.

PENCIL OR FOUNTAIN PEN?

I've never used a fountain pen. But I think I'd choose it, because pencils need to be sharpened and it's tiring!

A SECRET GOVERNMENT AGENCY HAS RECRUITED YOU TO BE ONE OF THEIR SUPERHEROES. YOU'RE OFFERED ANY SUPERPOWER OF YOUR CHOICE; WHAT IS IT?

Excuse me again. I already have a secret identity. And superpowers. See, I'm a Nightwing. Fyi, Nightwings are dragons from Phyrria and some of their adventures are chronicled in the Wings of Fire scrolls. Nightwings are studious dragons who love to read and think too well of themselves. And if hatched under a full moon they can read minds and foretell the future. Since I'm only part Nightwing, though, these powers don't always manifest, but most of the time - they do. Beware. I will know if you plot to take over my kingdom and turn my minions against me. Mwahahahahaaa ...

*ahem*

IF YOU COULD GO TO ANY THEME PARK (ALONE, AND OF YOUR CHOICE) AND RIDE THE ATTRACTIONS AT NIGHT, WHICH THEME PARK WOULD IT BE, AND WHICH RIDE WOULD YOU MOST LOOK FORWARD TO GOING ON?

Ark Encounter is like a theme park, right? Cause I'd go there. And I have zero idea about "rides" and I'm too lazy to do any Googling, sorry xD

But I think the right answer to this would be - the spookiest ride available?

WHAT ARE THREE THINGS YOU FEEL YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO KNOW ABOUT EACH OF YOUR CHARACTERS BEFORE YOU PROCEED WITH STORY DEVELOPMENT?

Huh ... this is not ... a question ... for me. I've started plotting the story before I know the characters' names or genders or ages or ... basically anything. I need to know zero about the characters before I start plotting xD Though usually I do come up with the vital stats before I start!

WHAT'S YOU FAVORITE FANTASY-WORLD TERRAIN (I.E. MOUNTAINS, DESERTS, FORESTS, ETC.)?

*considers* Forest, I think? I like cities too? And ships? So ships aren't a terrain. The ocean, then. I like forests and cities and the ocean. *nods* (also the epic terrain you see in the LotR movies - that HAS NO COMPARISON).

WHICH BOOK(S) FIRST INTRODUCED YOU TO YOUR FAVORITE GENRE?

My favorite genres are the speculatives - C. S. Lewis's The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe first introduced me to fantasy, and Lois Lowry's The Giver first introduced me to sci-fi. (Even though I consider Veronica Roth the first to show my dystopia - because I was not aware The Giver was sci-fi.) And Maggie Stiefvater introduced me to a mesh of reality and fiction.

And now for me to tag and and ask questions! *sarcastically* yay!!! (I tagged so many people last time - what am I going to do???)

1. What would be your second choice career (other than that of a writer)? Or if you aren't going to be a full-time author, what's your job choice?

2. Out of all the people you personally know (not internet friends) who has been the most encouraging/enthusiastic about your writer's life and your works?

3. How would you want to die if you were to be killed by the villains of the fictional world you accidentally entered?

4. Who's your favorite animal character of all time? (Out of a book, friends, not a movie.)

5. Are you more excited about writing the dedication or the acknowledgements in your book?

6. In one sentence or phrase, describe your writers life motto - preferably using symbolism and and metaphors. It can also be your mission statement kind of thing.

7. Pick one song that best describes what you aspire to be.

8. Do you listen to podcasts? If so, what are your favorites?

9. If you had to rename your blog, what would you call it?

10. What would you want written on your tombstone? (Got this one from a biography where the girl said she wanted "She lived life to the fullest" written there. Something of the sort, friend.)

11. You know you will die in one year. What do you want to do in that time?

I tag ...

YOUR TURN.

TAKE THE TAG IF YOU LIKE.
TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS:

what's your secret identity?
how tall are you?
would you go to mars?
what do you want on your tombstone?
what would you do if you could risk your time and money?

  1. *accepts tag* Thank you kindly! I am 5'1 and 3/4" inches (the 3/4 matters. *glares aggressively at anyone who might say otherwise*) I actually have split personality disorder (not really, tho) and my other personality is Lego Batman. If I could risk my time and money... I don't know. Arghhh.

But I need to read Maggie Stiefvater. Today, please. I'm going to go to the library and hopefully get the Scorpio Races this weekend :)

    1. *breathes heavy* I'm Batman. *cape swishes.

I just imagined you saying that, lol. I can see it now. XD

    2. You're welcome! #agreed The inch fractions totally count xD Ooh, Lego Batman? That's cool!

YES YOU GO READ THE SCORPIO RACES ASAP!!! It's one of my favorites! :D

  2. NO SLUSHIES IN YOU LIFE!!! THAT'S UNHEARD OF!!! I suppose Canada doesn't have Sonics because it is called America's drive in. Well, if you ever come to America, you will have to get a slushie. XD

Secret identity? Well, um it wouldn't be a secret if I told you now would it? I guess besides the fact that Ivie Brooks is my pen name, my real name would be my secret identity.

I'm 5'7 ish almost 5'8, but I'm full grown. There's no more growing tall for me. My bro already passed me up in height.

I would NOT go to mars. I don't like the idea of Space travel. I don't even like the idea of riding in a plane, so nope.

Tombstone? That's a bit of a bummer. But, I guess something with a toothless on it and an inspirational quote, along with something telling my family not to be sad because I am at peace.

I would risk time and money on either a( making the world work well together and get common sense back or b( knowing that isn't very likely, it would be more likely that I could create a dragon. :D

Can you imagine a baby night fury, though? That would be adorable! XD

    1. Yep I guess maybe it is an American thing! Good plan - I'll put in on my "list of things to do when I visit America" xD

Okay good point - secret identities are secret identities for a reason! My real name would also be a secret identity - well, technically Lisa is a real name of mine, but not my first name which most people know me by xD

5'8" is a good height in my opinion. And I can imagine why you wouldn't want to go to Mars haha.

Mmhmm it takes thinking - I used to want mine to say "she fulfilled her destiny" or "do not weep; the girl is not dead but sleeping".

My sis was shocked that you wanted to try to create a dragon cause it was exactly what she said she wanted to do too :D

Yep, baby Toothless ^-^ My theory has it that in HTTYD 3 they will find the rest of the Night Furies!

  7. I'm 5'8? I think? I DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW. 174cm, okay?? (why do inches even exist... xD)

What I need to know about my characters before further story development: who to ship them with. JOKING. not really... MOSTLY JOKING. (it could be important to the plot, okay??)

This was a long post, but great fun to read! :D

    1. Okay so I totally get you cause my mom doesn't understand inches either and exists entirely in the metric! (We are supposed to know metrics here in Canada anyway lol)

Hahahhaaa ... okay okay so legit point there xD That IS important even though sometimes you just leave them to their devices and wait and see what happens right?

Yeah - I realized it got pretty lengthy - glad you enjoyed it!

*nods* you totally should read Ted Dekker - I suggest starting with Black :) It's the first of the Books of History Chronicles!

I'll be looking forward to doing this. (:
