It's odd to write 2018.
So far I haven't made any mistakes and written 2017 instead (even though it's bound to happen). GO ME!
As I was drafting this post I realized that I've never before actually made any serious new year's goals. (WHAT) Apparently when I was younger I'd come up with a few and sort of stash them in my brain, and never get back to them or work on them at all #oops. Hopefully writing them down this time will help (YAY FOR BLOGGING :P).
Let's get down to business (to defeat the Huns ... *ahem* I mean... the resolutions XD)
read 150 books
Yeah that's ... that's really huge o.o I want to top this year's number (100) so I just picked 150. Is that realistic? NAH. I am never realistic with my goals. Do not try to do what I do. Just sayin'.
To be more detailed, I would like to organise my reading by genres and months. For instance:
// January -- the entire HTTYD series + Renegades
// February -- all the Bronte and Austen books of all time
// March -- standalones and contemporary
// April -- Harry Potter
// May -- alternate history
// June -- finish the series I began in 2017 but didn't finish
etc.
etc.
etc.
^^ That is just an example and I am likely to change my mind in the middle of the months ...
finish my two current novels
My plan goes like this: finish Broccoli Queen draft one in January. Finish You Were My Nemesis in February. (Yeah as if that's no big deal. *raises brows at myself*) Type them both and edit them through out the year ... also hopefully find some alphas who are willing to plough through my mediocre mess of words XD I know some of you are up to the challenge!
write one page of three books every day
That probably doesn't make a lot of sense to you but let me explain.
If I wrote only one page of one book a day, but the end of the year I'd have a book 365 pages long.
So if I wrote one page of three books -- that is, three pages in all, one per book -- I'd have three books, 365 pages long by the end of the year! So far I have been successful. It also allows for slower smoother writing, when only trying to write ONE PAGE. Also allows for plotting, which I'm bad at XD
finish school by june
I'm going to be honest and say THIS IS A BIG BIG GOAL. I started school in November, so I'm doing ten months work load in eight months. I'm also a very thourough student who takes tons of notes (basically writing the entire lesson down in different words so yeah) so ... I don't study very fast. And I have all these crazy above goals to reach for.
One of these is going to fail. I just feel it.
spend more time in the kitchen
I am far more willing to sit at my desk or in front of the computer, but no matter what I do there, nothing makes me happier than actually accomplishing something in the kitchen. As helping in the kitchen. It just ... makes me feel good. It's unexplainable.
I'd like to learn more and do more in the kitchen, and learn to "adult" a bit in this respect so ...

I'd like to learn more and do more in the kitchen, and learn to "adult" a bit in this respect so ...
make some time for music
Because I'm supposed to know how to play one instrument, and I'm supposed to pick up another ...
yeah. I need time for this. I need discipline for this. I need some. music. to. play. I really have to make this a daily habit, so this is one of my goals.
do a lot more physical activity
In case you are wondering, it's a school requirement, but I'd like to do it even if it wasn't for school. I want to get out there and run. Play basketball. Play tennis. Badminton. Pickleball. Go biking. It just rains so hard here in the winter that outdoor sports isn't a good option most of the time. Sooo... I need to cook up some alternatives while waiting for spring.
I think I have some other random goals as well, but those are under "what I want to accomplish as a 16 year old" so I'll leave them out. I don't want to swamp myself XD (as if I haven't already) Let's keep our fingers crossed for all our resolutions!
any 2018 goals you want to share?
Yay for goals!! I hope you accomplish them all. I know what its like to put really high goals. I do that all the time and often get mad at myself later one. XD
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!! <3
~Ivie
Thank you Ivie ^.^ #relatable my goals are always way over the top1
DeleteYAY with you cheering me on I'm sure I'll be more successful though <3

ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU ANNA!! Here's to a productive year <3
DeleteGOALS <3. I love goals, but, ah ... I'm not as good at meeting them as I am at creating them xD. But this was so fun to read! (*cough* and it also reminded me that I should be writing my 2017 recap/goals post xD) 150 books is a TON - I wish you all the best of luck in reading them! Hopefully you get a lot of a five-star reads :D.

~Snapper

Deletewow is right. Thanks, I need all the luck on conquering that book pile XD

ReplyDelete-Gray Marie | graymariewrites.blogspot.com
Thanks for all the luck! *crosses fingers for those books*
Deletewow those are some great goals! and man, 150?? I made it to 98 (seriously. I didn't even know I was so close until it was too late), and last year was only 68. BUT 150. HOW WILL YOU HAVE TIME FOR ANYTHING ELSE??
ReplyDeleteAND LOL SAME. my notes are basically the lesson written down in different words (I feel like I learn better this way), but why do I write pages and pages of notes? idk. I can't stop myself XD
writing one page of three books is a super cool idea! and wow you are talented to keep 3 books going at once. good luck on your goals, girl!
sarah » the introverted extrovert
HELLO SARAH thank you ^.^ Oooh 98? I got about 100!! I DON'T KNOW IF I WILL HAVE TIME FOR ANYTHING ELSE I'LL PROBABLY FAIL ALL MY GRADES AND INVISIBLE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. But still. Noble goal, if nothing else XD
DeleteYAY FOR FELLOW NOTE-TAKER *highfive* I can't helo myself either. I try not to be so detailed!!
thanks *feels cool for having a good idea* ugh you have no idea I actually have zero plot and don't know what's happening anymore so we'll see what disaster it turns into??
THANK YOU!! ALL THE LUCK TO YOU TOO WITH ALL YOUR GOALS (if you made any, and if you didn't, well good luck to the goals you know you should have made lol) ALSO THANKS FOR STOPPING BY! and for following ^.^
Awesome goals, Lisa!!

THANK YOU CATHERINE!!
Delete*shrugs* it's less than ten though??
HAHAHA YES WELL let's hope some of it makes its way to the blog then ;P
AHHH ALL THE GOALS. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI really like how you separated out the books you want to read. . . I don't think I could do that, because I like having choices, but I like that and I would do that if I were more self-controlled XD
Good luck with your goals!
THANK YOU!!
Delete:P Well, I was struck by sudden inspiration! I don't actually know if my plan will work (bc I'm a very inconsistent creature) but we'll see!! I ... like having my choices too. If I set myself rules like this my reading becomes a chore. I learned that from past experience. But we'll see ><
Just found your blog, and I really like it! Those are some great goals. I try to do goals, but last year's attempt did not go very well. Trying again this year with hopefully better results. *crosses fingers Good luck with your goals!
ReplyDeleteWhat instrument do you play? (Or that you're supposed to know how to play? XD)
OH HELLO ANNA <3 and thank you ^.^ My weekly and monthly attempts at goals never go very well either, sooo ... I don't know how different this will be :P I wish you all the success though! We can do it! *crosses fingers with you*
DeleteOh I /supposedly/ play the saxophone! I want to get started on guitar! Do you play any instruments?
You got this!
ReplyDeleteI need to read more books this year too!
THANK YOU SKYE!! <3
DeleteWe all want to, don't we? But whatever your number, go you!!
You got this, Lisa!!! These all sound like awesome, sensible goals (except perhaps the 150-book goal, but that's just because I set my goal for 30 books... I WISH YOU ALL THE LUCK, YOU AWESOME BOOKDRAGON. xD)
ReplyDeleteAgreed about getting out. There's nothing more refreshing than getting out in the fresh air. But yeah, it can be difficult when it's like 12 degrees outside, lol!
THANK YOU LILA <3 I try to be sensible most of the time ... but as you can see ... Goodreads's excitement over 2018's reading goals got me carried away :P Hey 30 books is so much more realistic and if you read more, you can say HEY LOOK I WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND. I can only say I NEARLY DIED TRYING TO REACH MY GOALS. xD *fistbump for you awesome bookdragon as well*
DeleteFRESH AIIIIIRRRRR .... I've sick and cooped up so when no one was looking I opened the door and just breathed for a while lol ugh weather always messes our plans, but you know -- do what you can!!
HTTYD yesss highly recommend. I just finished book 12 and it was so great.
ReplyDeleteNice goals! Good on you for actually writing them down xD You got this!!
I've seen HTTYD movie fans around the blogosphere, and I'm sure the movies are wonderful... but you're the first person I've seen to recommend the books. *high five*
Delete@Abigail -- I'M STARTING ON THEM NOW SO *crosses fingers I'll love it too* I think writing these goals down was a lot more fun than it will be to accomplish them but haha XD Thank you! I'll keep up a positive mindset!! :D
Delete@Jem -- HEY YOU FOUND YOURSELF A TWIN :D
DeleteThese are all great goals and I can't wait to see how you achieve them! Have an absolutely fantabulous 2018!
ReplyDeleteAHH THANK YOU SO MUCH HANNAH <3 I'll try to make you proud ^.^ Hope you have a wonderful year as well!!
DeleteThose are some great goals. Here's wishing you the best of luck.
ReplyDeletehELLO THERE :D THANK YOU LISSA! Your name is so close to mine!! Here's wishing you a marvelous year too <3
DeleteThese are some great goals! I love the idea about writing one page for three books throughout the year. It sounds a lot more maneagable than telling yourself "hey, I'm writing 3 novels. No biggie!"
ReplyDeleteLove your new header! (sorry it's probably not too new but I'm just now getting around to reading blogs again D:)
*seconds the header thing* ;)
Delete@Maddy -- THANKS SO MUCH! Writing one page a day is definitely more relaxing ... but it's only for those who want to multitask, bc you need to be plotting three books in your head at the same time. Also you will tend to write all in exactly the same voice and style so that might be a bit ... not one of the perks. BUT I LIKE MY IDEA ANYWAY. In a few months you'll probably hear how it is going!!
DeleteTHANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I love it myself *ahem* actually I got it up just before Christmas so you are not too late!! <3
@Abi -- THANK YOU I FEEL PROUD OF MYSELF NOW
DeleteI have an entire post devoted to goals too XD I love ALL of yours!! The writing one page for 3 stories a day thing ... o.o more power to you. I love your one about being in the kitchen more too :) <3
ReplyDeleteYES I READ THAT POST OF YOURS XD Thank you! I know that was a very good plan which might go haywire someday when I mix up my characters but hey ... I'll try anything once! Being in the kitchen always makes me so happy ^.^
DeleteThose are seriously inspiring reading goals! I love how you've sorted them out by category. I should probably try some Bronte myself (and aim for more physical exercise ;P). Your writing goals are impressive too - I hope you achieve them! :D
ReplyDelete- Jem Jones
THANK YOU JEM! Go read Jane Eyre immediately *shoos you off* it's amazing!! ALSO YES *highfive for exercise* IMPRESSIVE GOALS are usually too high up there to be achieved but thank you nonetheless!! :D <333
DeleteWow, you are so ambitious! I like the way you organize your reading goals, and if you are looking for alpha readers in the near future, let me know and I'll see what I can do because both your books look SUPER interesting!
ReplyDeleteHAHA THANK YOU EMILY :D *nods* we shall see if that way of organizing reading actually works XD oh wow thanks so much, I'll keep you in mind when I look for alphas bc it's super nice of you to volunteer!! Would be awesome working with ya!! <3
