Hello NaNo // How is my tbr? // Sunshine Blogger tag // What's Your Dragon Name?

It's the first day of July, and that means two things.

1) it's one third way through summer;
2) NaNo begins today!

*cue freaking out on both counts* Why? I should be one third done with my summer tbr, and I have to write a 50,000 in 30 days. So, let's explore the impending doom.

^^ Just kidding here.

Carve the Mark
 (3.5/5)
Pretty good, but a bit slow. Obviously I liked the "in love with the enemy" part. I also read all of Veronica Roth's previous blog on Blogger and you should read it too just so you can see a NYT Bestselling author before she became so famous :D

The Girl of Fire and Thorns
(4/5)
Good book, but it was the first time I actually couldn't relate to the main character? And I disliked two of the love interests. Otherwise it was fine :)

The Lost Girl of Astor Street
(4/5)
A very nice historical fiction mystery, even though the mystery part was a bit slow/predictable. But the characters were fabulous xD

Walk on Earth a Stranger
(4.5/5)
This book is gold. (Get it, anyone?) It's gold rush, and girl-disguised-as-boy, and lots of characters and adventures and I love it!

Let Me Be a Woman
This was a gift from my fabulous cousin and it's a great book but I need more time to read it slowly and absorb it. Also a lot of it was for married women, so not exactly relatable (at least yet) but good to know...

Dandelion Dust
(4.5/5)
This was very touching and relatable and sweet and thanks a lot, Faith, for the review copy! (Also totally awesome title here :D)

The Wrath and the Dawn
(4.5/5)
Very exotic and unique and exciting, but I finished it today so it doesn't really count as a June read, does it?

Also I'm doing a tag just because I feel like it. Excuse me for making this post very long.

So I am also stealing this Sunshine Blogger Tag from Marrok because it's my favorite tag. Why? Because you get to make up the questions and they change every time. The questions here were from Karyssa originally.

Here we go:

1.Why did you start blogging?

Because it looked fun haha. Just loved reading your blogs, guys, and wanted to join :D

2. How did you come up with the title of your blog?

Long story. The first time I heard about a teen blogger was in the Writer mag and it was in the same magazine that there was the section called inkwell and I loved the title and used it for a writing folder of mine for a long time. It has double meaning for me - not only an endless supply of ink (ideas and inspiration and stories), but at the same time it says "ink well", like write well. Ink as a verb. So it is also a motto. Finally the last letters are my initials. Creative, no?

3. What's your favorite thing about blogging?

It is fun? I get to vent out all the enthusiasm bundled inside me and I get to comment and I get comments and I get to interact and say to someone else, me too! I have keep finding people of my age with similar interests.

4. Are your novels usually plot driven, or character driven?

Never finished a full novel :) But I am guessing character driven - if I even imagine its meaning correctly.

5. Have you ever thought that the movie was better than the book? If so, what movie/book was it?

Probably at some point, but I can't remember right now. I know occasionally there's a tv episode based on a book or story that I like better than the original but I can't pin point one right now...

6. Of the four Pevensie children from the Chronicles of Narnia, which do you relate to the most?

This is such an awesome question, okay? Peter, definitely. Especially from the movies. I feel that same responsibility of being the oldest. I relate so much to his struggles. Second, Susan. My sibs think I am too grown up sometimes. ;D I love Ed and Lucy too, but I don't think I would be like them. These guys are my all time top favorite family :D

7. What is your favorite fandom(s)?

Idk I'm not really in any fandom but I fangirl about

- LotR. I talk about this endlessly and I love the movies and books so much even though I've only seen one and a half of the movie trilogy but every one in there is so awesome I just can't.... *cuts myself off before my fangirling gets out of control*

- Narnia. Yesss I'm a huge Narnia fan for both books and movies. They were the first fantasy books I ever read. And come on, producers, hurry up and make the Silver Chair. The Narnia movies are on my list of favorites and I love everyone soooo much. <3 I relate to Peter incredibly much and Susan too, and aww, Lucy, and oh my, Edmund he has to my favorite and Caspian! Reep! Aslan! Eustance! I'm ridiculously fond of Eustace, okay? I know it's funny but...

- Ted Dekker. Ted Dekker is my favorite author and can I just say the Books of History Chronicles are. the. best. ever. I got most of my family familiar with his books and I fangirl about this series endlessly and thinking about listening to them on audio for the first time still makes my stomach flip ahhh...

- Owl City haha my favorite music but I don't talk about it /that/ much

- Poirot. Especially lately. They are so adorable and hilarious and awesome and clever in the movies I can't describe it...

- HTTYD. My sis is the BIGGEST fan but I love Dagur the Deranged too much. How do I love a bad guy this much? I'm crazy. I fangirl about him all the time. Do you know about him? What do you think?

8. What is your favorite genre to read?

Speculative. (But I do almost anything.)

9. What do you do more than the other, writing or reading?

I really don't know. Because I read all my course books, and take super detailed notes about everything, and then when I'm done and it's time to review, I read my super detailed notes and take more notes of my own notes, so I guess I read and write in equal amount...???

Haha just kidding. If you talk about stories I read more than I write, but I write A LOT of other things as well.

10. How do you rate a book?

Using stars.

Or do you mean what I look for inside a book? Well, first I see how gripping it was. Then I figure out my overall feelings. Delving into the details, I look at the characters and how much I like them. Then I look at the plot and see if it's unique and if it shocked me and if it's full of different kinds of adventures. I also pay attention to setting, cover, title, etc. If I dislike a book it's usually because it was a) boring, or b) inappropriate for some reason, c) I disagreed with it's morals/themes, or d) some other reason that I would explain.

11. Who is your favorite author, and what is the first question you would ask them if you could?

Ted Dekker obviously. The first question I would ask him is this, "Do you mind if I ask you questions?" Haha, that was easy to answer ;D Because I'd have sooo much to ask. Honestly though I might just be so starry eyed over meeting my favorite author that I might be speechless! ;D

Emily - For the Bookish

The Questions:

1. Do you have favorite fictional families/siblings and who are they?

2. If you could reform one villain (book or movie) who would it be?

3. If you could work with/be the apprentice of/learn from one historical figure (hero or not) who would it be?

4. Have you ever dreamed (when you were asleep, of course) that you were in a book or movie? If so, which ones?

5. What are you favorite kinds of book titles (e.g. one word, a reference, symbolism, with a certain word in them...)?

6. If you could be the "sidekick" of one fictional character, who would it be?

7. If you were a superhero, what would be your power?

8. If you entered a fictional world, what is the worst thing that could happen to you?

9. What kinds of book covers don't you like?

10. Which fictional character would you want as your sidekick?

11. What fictional character would you want as your arch-nemesis?

I don't know where the rules to this tag are (I think I lost them) but I believe they are:

- Answer 11 questions,
- Tag 11 bloggers, and
- Ask them 11 questions.

^^ Side note: if anyone has one of these tags lying around tag me because I love them! Also, someone tag me with my own questions, because I love torturing myself with my own impossible questions...

> >  C A M P   N A N O   B E G I N S  < <

Yeah. So. I also have other deadlines to catch with other things so let's hope I survive :D I'm aiming for 50,000 just to see if I am capable of tackling the real NaNo in November. So far I've done 800 words but come the night that will increase.  You'll hear more from me on this later...

> >  + A   R A N D O M   N O T E  < <

I found this tag on Tumblr - how to find your dragon name. Anyone interested? Well the rules go,

Take
- the two last letters of you first name,
- the middle two letters of you last name,
- the first two letters of your mother's name, and
- the last letter of your father's name.

Put these together and you have your dragon name! I want you to grab a pen and paper and do it now, and let me know in the comments what you came up with! Mine turned out to be Vaoneen. The cool thing is you can decide how to pronounce it. Also if your siblings do it you will see you are related because only the first two letters change! HA!

So tell me about your reading and NaNo and if you did a recap post already link me to it!

And what's your dragon name?

Which Pevensie sibling do you relate to the most?

xxxx

  1. I'm probably the most like Susan. I definitely used to be Lucy, but now my worries tend to overwhelm me.
And we're in the same cabin for NaNo so you know how that's going... XD

  3. Awesome post!
Too bad my dragon name doesn't work, it's: ecoxshry
    LOL!!! XD
    Faith's turned out well, though...

    1. That's okay, it's not bad really. You can play around with it and see. For instance, it could be pronounced "Ecoshry" (eco-shree) without the x because in some languages like Chinese the "x" is pronounced like "sh". *shrugs* whatever suits you.

  4. Lovely post! I'm planning on reading The Lost Girl of Astor Street soon, so I'm hoping I like as much as you do, if not more! :D Hmmm, I'm going to find out my dragon's name. It's: Savical. Interesting! I'm a little on the fence about whether I like it or not. :)

    1. Thanks xD I assure you it comes at an expense (like probably my tbr... and school...) :P

Yes Leckmarn sounds good! It is funny how these dragon names may be hard to pronounce and yet they actually work most of the time?! It is basically just random letters?!

    1. Hi! So far NaNo is going all right, but I really haven't made that much headway. I've done 2,490 words on my novel, and between 1,500 - 2,000 for short stories which stole my attention away xD Yes, nice of you to check my blog out! Thank you ^-^ I like yours too :D

  7. I love HTTYD. And Dagur is the best. Have you seen Race to the Edge on Netflix? It is the best thing ever. I get excited when I see another person talking about HTTYD because I sometimes think I'm too old, but I don't care. I love the movies and the shows. And Toothless!

Okay, I'll stop fangirling now. Amazing post.

And one of my all time fave quotes comes from Dagur "Didn't you know the trapper's trap can trap the trapper?" So nice to meet you another fan and it's great you actually know about Race to the Edge! My sibs are actually the crazy fans here, and I just watch when they do and go with the flow but those. guys. are. so. epic.

    2. YEEESSS! Oh my gosh, I say that all the time. I watch it with my siblings, too, but I'm the big fan. They like watching it with me, but they get annoyed because I quote the show a lot for random things. The show is just so epic. Hiccstrid is adorable, too. I really like Toothless. He's my fave!

Thanks for the follow! It means a lot to me. <3 :D
