SO recently I was tagged twice for the same tag - the #coverlove tag! Big thanks to Allison and Ivie!! And turns out that they asked a lot of the same questions. I decided to kill two birds with one stone - I combined the questions that were similar, got rid of the questions that dealt with "least favorite covers" (bc hi, this is about COVER LOVE and I don't want to ruin my aesthetic XD), and TADA - here are some of my all time favorite covers!
most aesthetic book cover
"Arthur Louis Pullman the Third is on the verge of a breakdown. He’s been stripped of his college scholarship, is losing his grip on reality, and has been sent away to live with his aunt and uncle.
It’s there that Arthur discovers a journal written by his grandfather, the first Arthur Louis Pullman, an iconic Salinger-esque author who went missing the last week of his life and died hundreds of miles away from their family home. What happened in that week—and how much his actions were influenced by his Alzheimer’s—remains a mystery.
But now Arthur has his grandfather’s journal—and a final sentence containing a train route and a destination.
So Arthur embarks on a cross-country train ride to relive his grandfather’s last week, guided only by the clues left behind in the dementia-fueled journal. As Arthur gets closer to uncovering a sad and terrible truth, his journey is complicated by a shaky alliance with a girl who has secrets of her own and by escalating run-ins with a dangerous Pullman fan base.
Arthur’s not the only one chasing a legacy—and some feel there is no cost too high for the truth."
I actually haven't read this book, but I would like to! LOOK AT THAT COVER. I have a thing for artsy covers - especially ones that combine pictures as one like double exposure. This one does JUST THAT. It looks painted, and then in the sky there is the figure of a man facing away from us. I WANT TO HAVE A COVER LIKE THIS SOMEDAY. Even the title is poetic, wow. I hope the story will be as good. If anyone has read this - PLS LET ME KNOW HOW IT WAS :D
favorite autumn book cover
"Hadley Jamison is shocked when she hears that her classmate, Archer Morales, has committed suicide. She didn't know the quiet, reserved guy very well, but that doesn't stop her from feeling there was something she could have done to help him.
Hoping to find some sense of closure, Hadley attends Archer's funeral. There, Hadley is approached by a man who calls himself Death and offers her a deal. If Hadley accepts, she will be sent back 27 days in time to prevent Archer from killing himself. But when Hadley agrees to Death's terms and goes back to right the past, she quickly learns her mission is harder than she ever could have known.
Hadley soon discovers Archer's reasons for being alone, and Archer realizes that having someone to confide in isn't as bad as he'd always thought. But when a series of dangerous accidents starts pushing them apart, Hadley must decide whether she is ready to risk everything - including her life - to keep Archer safe."
LOOK I SNUCK IN AN ALL TIME FAVORITE OF MINE! This book takes place in the fall - November through December, I believe - and WOW LOOK AT THE COVER. It was love at first sight, honestly. Not only is is sideways, giving this feel of being thrown off what you're used to but it's also artsy with those paint splatters. It has New York buildings, Hadley wearing a scarf and she looks so pretty too ^-^ And the text is all wonderfully aligned - left and right.
cover with a face
SOME CONTEXT: from The Raven Boys: "For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore."
SYNOPSIS OF THIS BOOK:
"Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs.
The trick with found things, though, is how easily they can be lost.
Friends can betray.
Mothers can disappear.
Visions can mislead.
Certainties can unravel."
THE CHARACTERS IN THIS SERIES ARE SOME OF THE BEST I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. Nearly everyone I know loves this series and so do I! For the most part! It does have some "iffy" content, so readers should use their own discretion, but THE CHARACTERS!! And the covers!! I must applaud all of Maggie Stiefvater's book covers, I really must. They are all 100% perfect! And this has got to be pretty much my favorite cover with a face on it. I would love to have Broccoli Queen's book cover in this style lol
book you read primarily because of the gorgeous cover
• Her parents, who are having problems. (But they pretend like they’re not.)
• Being sent to her grandparents’ house for the summer.
• Never having met said grandparents.
• Her blue days—when life feels overwhelming, and it’s hard to keep her head up. (This happens a lot.)
Finley’s only retreat is the Everwood, a forest kingdom that exists in the pages of her notebook. Until she discovers the endless woods behind her grandparents’ house and realizes the Everwood is real--and holds more mysteries than she'd ever imagined, including a family of pirates that she isn’t allowed to talk to, trees covered in ash, and a strange old wizard living in a house made of bones.
With the help of her cousins, Finley sets out on a mission to save the dying Everwood and uncover its secrets. But as the mysteries pile up and the frightening sadness inside her grows, Finley realizes that if she wants to save the Everwood, she’ll first have to save herself.
Reality and fantasy collide in this powerful, heartfelt novel about family, depression, and the power of imagination."
This book's cover is AMAZING!! I wanted to read it as soon as I saw the cover + I was encouraged by two friends who loved it. AND IT DIDN'T DISAPPOINT. The main character's age sets this as middle grade fiction, but anyone of any age can definitely enjoy it. It has cousins and mystery and good depression/anxiety rep. So IF THIS COVER DOESN'T CONVINCE YOU idk who you are then allow my GREAT LOVE FOR THIS BOOK TO DO SO.
"It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live. Others die.
At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.
Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn’t given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen."
[^^ and here's a couple of reviews from my good frens just bc I never got the chance to post my review so pls read and be convinced: review by mary and review by abi]
a book cover you love on a book you love

ANOTHER STIEFVATER BOOK HAHA! SO originally I read another cover edition of this book but THIS ONE IS BY FAR MY FAVORITE COVER version. It looks like pastel and art!! And there's A HORSE which practically sums up the whole book. This is definitely a top favorite of mine and the first line of the book says IT'S NOVEMBER which means it's an autumn-ish book and YOU NEED TO READ IT.
book cover with a place / location
"Fight the Horde . . . or die with love.
Separated by time and space, our heroes finally return home. But five years have passed and they find a nightmarishly changed world.
The despised Horde are now in control. The healing lakes of Elyon are now blood red. And mighty Thomas Hunter and his Forest Guard have disappeared.
Take a stand with the chosen but be wary, for not all is as it seems. Now the chosen themselves are questioning their very sanity. For the only way to win may be to lose. The only way to live may be to die. And the only one to lead may be a lunatic."
BEHOLD, a book from my favorite series of ALL TIME. Ted Dekker's Lost Books are fantastic and my favorite books in the series are Lunatic and Elyon, the two last ones. This cover features a place/location - OTHER EARTH. Though I'm not sure I would survive, I would totally jump at the chance to visit over there. I'd highly highly recommend you to visit over there too by READING THE BOOKS XD I also happen to love these cover editions of the series - they're rarer but so much prettier! With scenery + blackness (which shows glimpses of Other Earth and indicates mysterious darkness).
a cover that makes you think of your childhood
"Pax was only a kit when his family was killed, and “his boy” Peter rescued him from abandonment and certain death. Now the war front approaches, and when Peter’s father enlists, Peter has to move in with his grandpa. Far worse than being forced to leave home is the fact that Pax can’t go. Peter listens to his stern father—as he usually does—and throws Pax’s favorite toy soldier into the woods. When the fox runs to retrieve it, Peter and his dad get back in the car and leave him there—alone. But before Peter makes it through even one night under his grandfather’s roof, regret and duty spur him to action; he packs for a trek to get his best friend back and sneaks into the night. This is the story of Peter, Pax, and their independent struggles to return to one another against all odds. Told from the alternating viewpoints of Peter and Pax."
I have not read this book either, and I hear it's really SAD (tragic books, anyone?) but THAT COVER. It's currently my favorite cover in existence. It's so aesthetic and artsy and simple and features a FOX (aka one of my favorite animals) and makes me think of The Little Prince + Bambi. This makes me think of my childhood because I used to read more animal stories as a kid?? And also BAMBI was my favorite book + movie for a long while?? This just brings back all the memories AND THE COVER IS WONDERFUL so maybe I ought to give it a try ^-^
a book cover with a food item you love to eat
Lina is spending the summer in Tuscany, but she isn’t in the mood for Italy’s famous sunshine and fairy-tale landscape. She’s only there because it was her mother’s dying wish that she get to know her father. But what kind of father isn’t around for sixteen years? All Lina wants to do is get back home.
But then she is given a journal that her mom had kept when she lived in Italy. Suddenly Lina’s uncovering a magical world of secret romances, art, and hidden bakeries. A world that inspires Lina, along with the ever-so-charming Ren, to follow in her mother’s footsteps and unearth a secret that has been kept for far too long. It’s a secret that will change everything she knew about her mother, her father—and even herself.
People come to Italy for love and gelato, someone tells her, but sometimes they discover much more.
THIS IS THE ONLY ONE I COULD THINK OF. It has ICE CREAM. I mean, gelato. I haven't tried gelato myself but it's supposed to be like ice cream so yeah?? I haven't read this book either, but I'VE HEARD GREAT STUFF ABOUT IT and it sounds super similar to One Paris Summer, which I enjoyed. The cover is very lovely - aesthetic and minimalist ... AND it's set in Italy and I'm dying for books to be set outside of America so I might have to get this one. HAve any of you read it?
I'm not gonna bother tagging anyone for this, but feel free to do what I did if you want to. I'd love to see your favorite covers too!
HAVE ANY OF YOU READ ANY OF THESE BOOKS? WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE BOOK COVER?

ReplyDeleteLet's hope we both like Love and Gelato!! THANKS FOR COMMENTING KARA!!
DeleteOoh these are lovely! And the stories all sound pretty intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI love minimalist covers too. :) One of my favorites is the Ignatius Press version of G. K. Chesterton's "Manalive;" they managed to pack so much relevance into such a simple drawing.
THANKS Megan!! Minimalist covers are so lovely, I agree. I went and looked up this cover you spoke of AND WOW YOU ARE RIGHT!! I have never read the book but I REALLY WANT TO NOW. I think a successful cover is one that makes you want to read the book for the cover alone and that one sure does it!!!
Deletethanks for commenting dear <333
